Botulinum toxin, the same ingredient in the Botox brand, can be an effective method of reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

Injected into key areas of the face, botulinum toxin works by freezing the underlying muscles, which has the effect of smoothing expression lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes. It is a temporary treatment that usually lasts for up to 6 months but top up treatments will prolong the effects. With repeated treatments, not only will treatment smooth out the areas that are currently visible, but can also mitigate against the formation of future lines and wrinkles too. The treatment will not affect any static wrinkles that are not linked to facial muscle contraction.

The botulinum toxin anti-wrinkle injections are gently placed into key locations around the face, to temporarily paralyse the tiny muscles that hold the skin in a contracted pose. Changes take around seven days or so to be noticed but there is some variation from patient to patient.
